Youth Program Philosophy
Elementary and Middle
school Players:
It is during middle
childhood that children develop the strength, speed, and
control needed to develop their gross and fine motor
skills. It is important for children interested in
field hockey to learn the correct techniques during this
time, while these motor skills are developing.
Repetition of the correct techniques builds a solid
foundation, which is critical to success in field
hockey. The Field Hockey Fanatix philosophy of coaching school-aged
children is to provide a fun, positive and informative session. We use
innovative games and drills, as well as small-sided scrimmages as
instructional methods. Small-sided scrimmages allow for more ball touches
and thus create more opportunities to develop and refine their skills.
Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend all sessions.
High School Aged
Players: Field Hockey Fanatix
readily identifies individual and team strengths and weaknesses. We
implement strategies that build upon strengths and correct technical errors,
thus taking your game to the next level of play. We realize the importance
of agility, speed and endurance training and incorporate these aspects of
the game into our programs.
This age level
includes our own
Elite Technique of the Week™
program. This
program is designed for the
player who has already built a solid foundation of the essential field
hockey skills. Take your game to the next level of play by incorporating
these advanced skills into your game. Each session will focus specifically
on one or two elite techniques and will include demonstration of the proper
body mechanics and footwork. The techniques will be practiced statically
until perfected and then progress to on the move play. Players will be
taught when and how to implement these techniques into game situations.
Surprise your opponent by implementing these techniques and
add to your dimensions as a player! |
